BREAK THE FRAME: REBUILDING REALITY THROUGH PHOTOGRAPHY, WRITING, AND ART
June 21
BREAK REALITY. BUILD YOUR OWN.
What if you could rewrite your story using art?
Most people use photography to document their life.
This class teaches you how to use it to change it.
When I felt low, I started taking self-portraits, not only to capture how I looked and document where I was at, but to shift how I felt. When my life felt stuck, I created images of the version of me that wasn’t.
Over time, those images didn’t just reflect change—they helped create it.
I came to believe that many possible realities existed within me—and that by giving one of them form, I could influence the path I was on. Creating these images often led to meaningful shifts, while also revealing deeper insights about myself. By capturing a moment and intentionally reshaping it, I found I could mold my reality into what I dreamed of. When I wanted to make the move from NYC to Chicago I had no money to do so. I wanted to tap into the 1920s energy of Chicago and help to create an image that would not only reformat my brain to believe I could do it but shift the current stagnant energy. Seven months later I not only had the funds to move but found the perfect 1920s hotel apartment right across from the beach.
When it came time to move from that hotel apartment I created a Rorschach-esque exercise with paint and ink. This not only gave me a place to write my goals without overthinking but became a tool in second sight through imagery. Once again, and this time within a month I had both the money and the perfect apartment in a neighborhood I adored. I’ve used this technique many times over the years to push my creativity to new levels, expand opportunities, and open my eyes to doorways I couldn’t even imagine existed.
This 4-week experimental class blends photography, art, cut-up techniques, guided meditations, personal observances, and energy transmutation/manipulation to help you build your own visual world. You’ll break apart images and language, rearrange meaning, and turn fragments into something entirely new, putting into motion an energetic shift to help you clarify direction and take action from a different mental and creative state.
IN THIS CLASS, YOU WILL:
Cut and reconstruct images into unexpected forms
Use randomness to unlock new creative directions
Explore identity, alter egos, and self-mythology
Create work that challenges your current narrative, breaks through mental blockages, and propels change.
Build momentum through creative experimentation
Hear from creatives who use these exercises in their own work
